Scope of the Journal

Tahqeeqi Jareeda considers all manuscripts, book reviews, review articles and commentaries related to any aspect of Urdu language and literature as well as other local languages in the region. Research and critical works from Language, Linguistics and Literature perspectives are welcomed for submission, however, all submissions must be written in Urdu only. The journal does not entertain any kind of submissions in any language other than Urdu.

Tahqeeqi Jareeda, the Urdu Research Journal, aspires to serve as an inclusive platform that fosters the exchange of high-quality research amongst researchers, faculty members, and students. Dedicated to elevating the discourse within the realms of Urdu Language, Linguistics, and Literature, our mission is to encourage scholarly engagement, cultivate modern research methodologies, and facilitate the dissemination of knowledge regarding Urdu Language &
Literature, Culture, and Civilization. Currently, Tahqeeqi Jareeda is registered in MLA directory of periodicals and registration with some other international database agencies like Ulrich, EBSCO etc is in progress.

1. Tahqeeqi Jareeda is an Urdu research and critical inquiry journal in which unpublished research articles in the context of Urdu language and literature as well as other local languages are considered.
2. All articles in Tahqeeqi Jareeda are published according to the rules and regulations set by HEC.
3. All articles go through rigorous double-blind peer review process before publishing which could take two to three months.
4. Tahqeeqi Jareeda is published bi-annually in June and Dec. Dead-line of article submission for Research Journal “Tahqeeqi Jareeda” is as under: For Jan – June Issue: 1st March to 05th March For July – Dec Issue: 1st August to 05th August Please consider the above mentioned timeline for submission.
5.  Articles submitted in Tahqeeqi Jareeda must not to be sent anywhere else for publishing before getting known about acceptance or rejection.
6. The mentioned category for Tahqeeqi Jareeda is Urdu and other local languages. Therefore, authors should carefully consider the scope of the journal before submitting a manuscript.
7. The language of the Journal is only Urdu. Manuscripts should be written in Urdu only.
8. Do not send translations or creative writings like Ghazal, Nazm, etc.
9. Before sending articles take care of these matters.
   i.  Articles must be in composed form. Soft copy is necessary as well hard copy.
   ii.  Articles must be accompanied by an abstract (100-300 words) in English.
   iii.  Title, Keywords, Name of the Researcher and affiliation of the researcher should be provided in English also.
   iv.  Complete address and contact details should be provided
   v.  Attach an affidavit in which clearly mention that the article is not submitted, under  consideration for publication or printed elsewhere.
   vi.  Soft copy must be in MS. Word format with following settings. Document type = A4, argins = 1” , Font = Jameel Noori Nastaliq, Font size= 13, Font size of abstract=13.
   vii. The article must include references/ footnotes at the end of the article, otherwise it is not acceptable.
   viii. Please follow this structure for references: (Author, Book, Publisher, Address, Year, Page)

Note: All research Articles that are accepted for publication in Tahqeeqi Jareeda expressed the view points of the respective author. So, every article is the sole responsibility of the writer whilst Editorial Committee and GC Women University Sialkot have no responsibility in this regard. Editorial Committee has the right to make occasional changes to meet the Journal requirements.

Duties and responsibilities of editors:

In addition to many general duties, such as constantly improving the quality and integrity of the journal, striving to needs of authors and readers, encouraging academic debate, and others, the editors accept an obligation to apply best will and practice to cope with the following responsibilities:

1. The editor is wholly responsible for establishing/maintaining the quality of the journal.
2.  He/ She has full authority to accept or reject any research paper keeping in view the publishing policy of the Journal or the standard of the topic/ references/ material/ presentation/ language of the submitted paper and professional demands as well.
3. The editor ensures the process of blind peer review of every paper.
4. The editor ensures the Plagiarism Check of every paper and strictly follows the HEC Plagiarism Policy regarding this matter.
5.  The editor is bound to follow the journal's policy without any institutional pressure.
6. The editor would provide a corrigendum for any correction, clarification, and apologies when required.
7. The editor may appoint Members of the Editorial Board/ Advisory Board and change them anytime.
8.  The editor ensures the smooth functioning of the journal and conducts the editorial board meeting on a regular basis.
9. The editor would disregard the discriminating factors, e.g. gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, cultural sentiments, political affiliation, seniority, and/or institutional association of the author(s) while selecting articles for publication.
10. The editor would try to promptly respond to the author (s) of the papers submitted for publishing, for any query.
11. The editor will not edit any submitted paper which would have any conflict of interest. He/She is responsible for asking the reviewers/evaluators also for disclose any conflict of interest regarding the submitted research paper to ensure impartiality.
12. The editor ensures the confidentiality of the content of the manuscript before publishing at his and the reviewer's end.

Editorial Board:

Editorial board will be generated from recognized experts in the field. The editor will provide full
names and affiliations of the members as well as updated contact information for the editorial office
on the journal webpage.

Publication decisions:

The editor should be responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal’s editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Peer review process:

All of a journal’s content is subjected to peer-review. Articles submitted for possible publication are subjected to a double-blind, peer review process. Articles are first reviewed by editors. The editor may reject it out of hand either because it is not dealing with the subject matter for that journal or because it is manifestly of a low quality so that it cannot be considered at all. Articles that are found suitable for review are then sent to two experts in the field of the paper. Referees of a paper are unknown to each other. Referees are asked to classify the paper as publishable immediately, publishable with amendments and improvements, or not publishable. Referees’ evaluations usually include an explicit recommendation of what to do with the manuscript. Referees’ comments are then seen by the author.
Editors should be ready to justify any important deviation from the described process. Editors should not reverse decisions on publication unless serious problems are identified.
Editors should publish guidance to authors and reviewers on everything that is expected of them. This guidance should be regularly updated and will refer or link this code.

Fair play:

Editor should evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without considering race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors. Editors´ decision to accept or reject a paper for publication should be based only on the paper´s importance, originality and clarity, and the study´s relevance to the aim of the journal.

Confidentiality:

Editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher. Editors will ensure that material submitted remains confidential while under review.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest:

•  A reviewer should not, for the purpose of his/her own research, use unpublished material
  disclosed in a submitted manuscript, without the approval of the Editor.
• The data included in the research paper is confidential and the reviewer shall not be
  allowed to use if for his/her personal study,
• A reviewer must declare any potentially conflicting interests (e.g. personal, financial,
  intellectual, professional, political or religious). In such situation, s/he will be required to
  follow the journal's policies.
• A reviewer should be honest enough to declare conflicts of interest, if, the research paper
  under review is the same as to his/her presently conducted study.
• If the reviewer feels unqualified to separate his/her bias, s/he should immediately return
  the manuscript to the Editor without review, and justify to him/her about the situation without
  the prior approval of the Editor. Then this should be brought in the Editor's knowledge.

Open Access Policy:

TAHQEEQI JAREEDA is freely available online. Authors are required to agree with this open access policy which enables unrestricted access and reuse of all published articles.

Originality and plagiarism:

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
Plagiarism takes many forms, from “passing off” another´s paper as the author´s own paper, to copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another´s paper (without attribution), to claiming results from research conducted by others. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication:

An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior. In general, an author should not submit for consideration in another journal a previously published paper.

Authorship of the paper:

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest:

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed. Examples of potential conflicts of interest that should be disclosed include employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding. Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the earliest stage possible. Readers should be informed about who has funded research and on the role of the funders in the research.

Contribution to editorial decisions:

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper. Peer review is an essential component of formal scholarly communication. Authors who wish to contribute to publications have an obligation to do a fair share of reviewing.

Promptness:

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse him/herself from the review process.

Confidentiality:

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of objectivity:

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of sources:

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and conflict of interest:

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer´s own research without the written consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

HEC Plagiarism Polic

TAHQEEQI JAREEDA strictly follows plagiarism policy as per HEC guidelines.

Basic information about the Papers. The specialty of Tahqeeqi Jareeda is to present articles in the different categories of Urdu language and literature as well as other languages. Articles excluding these categories will not be considered.

1. Research (Textual, Subjective, Biographical) In this category it is necessary that the article must cover textual, Subjective, biographical research about classical era. The classical forms of Urdu literature and related documents, antiques and manuscripts are also parts of this category.
2. Discussions (Intellectual, Critical) Articles in this category should be about the intellectual and critical discussion like modern western theories of criticism, classical and modern thoughts, theories of eastern criticism, the evolution and development of Urdu criticism and related texts, different arts relating literature and languages & literature of other local languages etc. The discussions in said category should be related to the Urdu as well as other local languages and literatures
3. Poetry (Research and Analysis) In this category articles covering different genres of Urdu poetry like Nazm, Ghazal, Qasida, Marsia and others are treated. The different shades like evolution, philosophical perspective, contemporary issues and objective studies based on related texts of these genres are welcomed.
4. Language and Linguistics Linguistics research (old and new) in Urdu and contemporary linguistic discussions are part of this category. However, modern linguistic discussions must be connected to the Urdu language or other local languages.
5. Iqbal Studies Research articles about Iqbal’s prose, poetry, life and services are included.
6. Research/Criticism Research and Criticism as a subject are parts of this category. Research about classical Urdu literature, classical and modern discussions of criticism, related documents and manuscripts are also parts of this category.
7. Urdu Fiction (Research and Analysis) Articles about Urdu fiction (classical and modern) are included in this category. This is a broad category and has distinguished identity status in the journal. Research based studies of classical Urdu Myths, Novel, Short story, Drama and Inshaia are considered in this category.
8. Non-Fictional Urdu Prose (Research and Analysis) This category entertains critical and analytical study of non-fictional Urdu prose like Letters, Essays, Autobiographies, Biographies, Columns and Reportages etc.
9. Translations (Research and Analysis) This category is for the articles discussing art of translation or research in this field. Critical and analytical studies of translated works in Urdu from different languages are also included.

Submission Preparation Checklist

1. As part of the submission process, authors/researchers should check off their submissions compliance with all items below:

1. The submission has not been previously published, not it is under-consideration for publication elsewhere.
2. The submission file must be in Microsoft Word file format.
3. The text adheres to stylistic and bibliographic requirements provided in Author Guidelines section of the Journal.

Tahqeeqi Jareeda" is a bi-lingual, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access publication established by the Department of Urdu, Riphah International University Faisalabad Campus. The review process allows the author(s) to improve their manuscript through editorial communications. Scholars/ Reviewers accepting to review a research paper have an ethical responsibility to complete this assignment professionally. The quality, credibility, and reputation of a journal also depend on the peer-review process. The peer-review process depends on trust and demands that a reviewer is supposed to fulfill ethically. The reviewers should:
1.  Immediately inform the editor if they do not have the subject expertise required to carry out
the review.
2.  Be responsible to act punctually and submit review reports on time. They should immediately
inform the editor of any possible delays.
3. The data included in the research paper is confidential and the reviewer is not allowed to use it for his/her personal study or any other academic or professional purpose.
4.  Reviewers would consider the research paper a confidential document. They must not discuss its content on any platform except in cases where professional advice is being sought with the authorization of the editor. They are bound not to disclose the details of any research paper before its publication without the prior approval of the editor.

5.  A reviewer must declare any conflicting interests (e.g. personal, financial, intellectual, professional, political, or religious). She/he should declare if the research paper under review is the same as his/her presently conducted study.
6. A reviewer should be honest enough to declare if she/he is biased at any level toward the manuscript submitted.
7. The reviewer may justifiably criticize a manuscript but it would be inappropriate to resort to personal criticism of the author(s). He/she is supposed to objectively review with consideration high academic, scholarly, and scientific standards.
8.  A reviewer should bring to the editor's notice, before writing the evaluation report, if the research paper is based on any previous research study or is a replica of an earlier work, or work is plagiarized. Moreover, if the reviewer suspects the given results to be untrue/unrealistic/fake, or there has been an indication of violating ethical norms in the treatment of human beings (e.g. children, females, poor people, disabled, elderly, etc), all these points should also be identified to the editor.
9. For writing an evaluation report, reviewers are sent a prescribed form(s) from the editor and they are supposed to share their comments on that form.
10.  The editor will surely consider the reviewer's comments and may send the paper to someone else for another opinion or send it back to the author(s) for revision before making any decision. But the final decision about publishing a research paper (either accept or reject) will solely rest with the editor. A reviewer cannot challenge the decision of the editor in any forum.
