Chemistry is at the heart of many disciplines and is a core science discipline. Chemistry being an incredibly multidisciplinary science is critical for solving society’s most important problems and making significant positive impacts on human health, energy, and the environment.
The Chemistry programs at GCWUS are providing students a grasp of the basic principles of chemistry through a course of study that emphasizes fundamental concepts of chemistry, modern synthetic and analytical techniques, materials science and much more. This theoretical background is further augmented through a carefully designed course of laboratory experiments regarding chemical procedures and techniques that cover basic concepts of experimental techniques which serve as a stepping stone to research in Chemistry. Students are encouraged to participate in research projects under the supervision of highly qualified faculty. These research projects could have potential applications in a variety of fields including biotechnology, chemicals/materials industry, fuel/solar cells development, electronics, photonics, drug delivery, nano medicine and environmental remediation etc.
The Department offers both undergraduate degrees (BS) and graduate degrees (MS and Ph.D). The Department believes in maintaining high standards and follows the guidance of the Higher education commission (HEC), Pakistan in maintaining course offerings that meet their guidelines for success in chemistry, science, and associated professional areas. Any student enrolled in graduate and undergraduate program of department is eligible for higher studies in any other HEC approve university or can apply for job in both government and private sector organizations. This is focal point for those interested in the field of chemistry and offers them opportunities for practical experience and professional contacts.
