NAHE Faculty Training Program

Government College Women University Sialkot Successfully Completes Faculty Training Program in Partnership with NAHE Sialkot, December 12, 2024 – The Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) proudly announces the successful completion of a four-week Faculty Training Program conducted in collaboration with the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) as part of the National Outreach Program for Higher Education Faculty. This initiative, supported by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), aimed to enhance teaching effectiveness and promote academic excellence among faculty members.
The certificate distribution ceremony was held on December 12, 2024, and was honored by the presence of esteemed guests, including the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, Vice Chancellor of GCWUS, as well as notable figures such as Mr. Muhammad Saleem Qamar, Mr. Ijaz Ahmad, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Prof. Dr. Yasir Nawaz Khan, Prof. Dr. Tariq Mahmood, Prof. Dr. Adnan Adil, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq, Dr. Muhammad Umair Ashraf, and Mr. Sohaib Saleem.
In her keynote address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir expressed her sincere appreciation to Dr. Noor Amna Malik, Managing Director of NAHE, for recognizing GCWUS as a vital partner in this transformative project. She emphasized the critical role faculty development plays in elevating higher education standards, asserting that empowering women educators is essential for fostering a culture of academic excellence. Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir also highlighted the university’s mission to lead by example in championing women’s empowerment, noting that well-prepared female educators serve as role models for their students and the greater community.
Mr. Ijaz Ahmad, Training Coordinator for the program, welcomed the distinguished guests and acknowledged the unwavering support of the HEC, which has been instrumental in the implementation of this initiative. He provided insights into the program’s objectives, stating that it was designed to enhance teaching and learning practices, promote research and academic excellence, provide mentoring for faculty professional growth, and strengthen the overall capacity of the institution. He also mentioned ongoing plans to replicate the training within the university, thereby allowing other faculty members to benefit from the knowledge and skills acquired, especially focusing on encouraging female faculty to take leadership roles.
Mr. Muhammad Saleem Qamar, Deputy Director of NAHE, reiterated that the HEC is firmly committed to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in universities throughout Pakistan. He expressed confidence that initiatives like this training program will positively impact educational outcomes and equip faculty—particularly women—with modern pedagogical techniques.
Participants of the training expressed their immense satisfaction and gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their teaching competencies. They highlighted how the skills and techniques learned during the program would not only elevate their individual teaching practices but also enhance the educational experience for their students. Many participants advocated for the expansion of such training programs to include all faculty members across the university, reinforcing the shared commitment to academic excellence and women’s empowerment.
